Description
The struggle with depression and PTSD isn't just something you can overcome with a handful of pills and hugs. It takes work. It takes effort. I struggle with PTSD and anxiety as well as depression. Recently due to a health issue I have been unable to photograph what I want. So it threw me into a dark depression. I nearly ended up hurting myself and through that others around me.
It's a struggle and when someone says it feels like they're drowning, it's almost literal. You feel so overwhelmed, so defeated and so broken. And with that, through my art and my stubbornness, I'm working on getting through this one day at a time. One image at a time.

Initially, it was the movement in this piece that drew me in, but after I read your description, it gave a new depth and facet to consider and appreciate. Overall, the subdued colors and almost gritty texture really tie everything together nicely.
The only true criticism I have would maybe be the tangent of the topmost fingertip touching the top of the image-- maybe playing with the black negative space would be an interesting thing to do, since there is so much movement going on in the lower half of the image.
While there might be catharsis for some in getting drawn under, I hope you find it in breaking free. <3
